Current Issues

There are three Environment Commission sub-committees working on issues affecting the Cowichan Valley: Solid Waste, Regional Environmental Strategy Plan, and Emerging Issues

These committees will address reviews of plans as they are developed and/or newly emerging issues,then report to the Environment Commission with their findings and prepare comments, reports or correspondence as appropriate.

Emerging Issues Sub-Committee

South Island Aggregates request for permission to bring contaminated soil to the Shawnigan Lake area. The Environment Commission has prepared two letters addressed to the Ministry of Environment in response to this issue. Read these letters here.

Regional Environmental Strategic Plan (ePlan or Plan 12) sub-Committee

The Regional Environmental Strategic (Plan 12) is reaching its final edits and reviews and the completed plan will be released soon.
